I DON’T ENJOY KISSES ON SET-ECOW SMITH ASANTE

Story: Christine Kumassah
Ghana’s dynamic and talented actor Ecow Smith Asante condemns emotions attached to kisses in movies.
Ecow said, “I don’t enjoy kissing actresses like Emelia, Jackie, Nadia and Yvonne because it is the character the actresses are playing that I am kissing on camera”.

The handsome actor added that the feeling would have been different on a “ normal day” should he get to kiss the likes of Jackie, Nadia and even Yvonne because there will be no cameras on them to kiss freely without interferance.

Ecow in an interview with The Weekend Moment on the Ghana movie industry said Ghana’s Movie Industry has grown to an era where costumes are provided for scripts instead of using one’s own costume ,adding that “the industry has  come a long way but needs massive investments to keep it running and also get to a point where we can build houses and studios to facilitate the work as compared to other industries like the oil and gas industries.”

He pointed out that people see actors and actresses as “rich dudes”, making it difficult and very embarrassing to board public transport.

The trained teacher noted that he will only go back to the classroom to teach acting. He said , “Whatever I want to do will be based on show business, I don’t want to build a consultancy firm so if I don’t build a Hollywood like studio, I will do something of some magnitude in Ghana.”

According to  “Teacher Ecow”, his preference of movies is that the script should be influential to help society ,new as well have a good pay.

He also said he enjoyed acting with everybody but loved Magid Michel most because he brings out the best in him. On John Dumelo, he said John could disorganize an actor or actress“ if you are not focused and is full of surprises”.

Teacher Ecow admires veteran actor Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi, but is seriously dreaming to  act with Denzel Washington because  acoording to him Denzel’s interpretation and mannerisms on the screen are educative and deep.

He indicated that he loves challenges which will propel him for higher or more competent roles.   The “ Akuapem-Mampong darling boy” urged the youth   not to “rush, acting is a long life job,it starts from age one to ninety-nine,acting is difficult and requires sturdiness, patience is a virtue every actor or actress needs”.
